CASTING CALL
UNTITLED DEVISED FILM PROJECT
What is this?
Writer-director Anna Kerrigan (Cowboys, Tribeca 2020; Hot Seat, Sundance 2017; Sundance Fellow; Gotham nominee) is seeking young performers ages 18–25 to join an ensemble collaboration in Minneapolis. The ultimate goal is to make a feature film in the fall of 2026 or early 2027.
Kerrigan and the ensemble will build characters and story from the ground up using the text of Spring Awakening, current events and personal experiences as starting points. Over 8–10 Saturdays in the summer of 2026, the ensemble will devise scenes, improvise, and dig into what it means to be young in the Twin Cities right now, exploring themes of politics, identity, community, sex and coming of age. Everything we create together becomes the raw material for a feature screenplay which Kerrigan will then edit together in its final form. Sessions will be recorded and transcribed. Ensemble members will receive authorship acknowledgment in the final script, and some may go on to perform in the finished film.
Who’s Anna Kerrigan?
Anna’s a filmmaker based in Minneapolis. You can find her bio here.
What kind of collaborators are you looking for?
At the moment, we’re just looking for performers 18-25, all races and genders.
Do I need to be a professional actor?
No, you don’t! Maybe you’re a musician, an athlete, a dancer, a DJ or urban explorer who posts TikTok videos. If you sign up and show up we will see you.
When are the auditions?
May 24th and 25th at A-Mill Artist Lofts. Sign ups are here.
I can't make those dates but am still interested.
If you're interested in submitting a self tape contact us at castingcallmpls@gmail.com for further instructions.
How do I prepare for the audition?
When you sign up for a slot, we will send you instructions, including a scene to prepare for the audition. You should also be prepared to improvise (i.e. Kerrigan may give you an improv prompt to do with a reader.)
If I’m cast, what’s the commitment?
8-10 Saturday sessions June 2026-August 2026; up to 4 hours every session. If you’re going out of town for a week or two, that’s fine, but it’s important that you’re generally available in the Cities over the summer. Once our sessions conclude, Kerrigan will finalize the script and start organizing production.
Is this paid?
At this moment, no. But this could change. The film will be created using an ownership model, meaning everyone who works on the film (and its development) will own a piece of it proportional to the amount of time they spent working on it.
I have a question you didn’t answer.
